Some ideas end up in the final deck.
Some ideas receive client approval.
And some ideas give us the excitement we didn't know we had before.
Forget the awards. Forget getting picked by the client.

Here are my favorite projects that kept me up at night with enthusiasm.

Powerful Leading Women - the women stood their ground and didn't take crap from men period.
Empathy for Characters - the work made me believe in the characters and feel for the characters as though the situations were real life. I felt like crying with the characters. I felt like screaming with the characters.

Building My Brand

as Jezz Smith
Spring 2018

**Rebrand Dec 2020 - Read blog for more info
My name is Jessica Smith, so why do I use Jezz Smith?

For starters, I'm not Jessica #2 or the black Jessica. I'm Jessica Smith, with a strong emphasis on individuality and personality.
I designed a logo to use on my social media, resume, business card, and button pin. I especially like my button for networking events, and I feel less lost in the crowd. I take pride in my logo and consistent brand appearance on all platforms. My updated style design introduces two additional colors that are present in this website.

International Korean Pop Idols

BTS Campaign
Fall 2019
I. Love. B. T. S!
BTS is my favorite artist, and their following is growing around the world. My favorite passion project is rebranding BTS's new look to reflect their recent works. I can go on and on, but I recommend checking out my project and trying their music.

I created the new logo, creative style guide, outdoor signage mockups, and social media mockups. I produced the creative works and mockups for the campaign with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. The work is a submission for an advertising program.

Pressure Washing Rebrand

Pure Florida Campaign
Spring 2020
Pure Florida is a local Gainesville pressure washing company. Pure Florida was open to trying a new company name to better reflect a cleaning service company. The inspiration behind the company rebrand is quality service for higher-income customers.

I created the new name, logo, creative style guide, outdoor signage mockups, the first mailing insert, and first business card, and the second Facebook post mockup. I produced the creative works and mockups for the campaign with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. The work is a submission for an advertising class.

Redesign Your Home

Sawdust Dreams Campaign
Spring 2020
Sweet Dreams, LLC is a local Gainesville furniture store with Vintage Furniture Paint and Iron Orchid Designs. The Sawdust Dreams campaign brightens the brand with one consistent design and a separate logo for the classes provided by the store. The logo draws inspiration from the store's use of Iron Orchid Designs and handwritten price tags.

I wrote the SWOT analysis, created the creative design guide and youtube mockup, designed a full website, marketplace fliers, in-store selfie station, and merchandise. I produced the creative works and mockups for the campaign with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. The work is a submission for an advertising class.

Lifesavers & Blood Donations

LifeSouth Campaign
Fall 2019
How do you capture the attention of college students to get blood donations? College students enjoy selfie opportunities and showing their support for causes.

This campaign uses a social media engagement to encourage donators to share their donating experience. Also, this project can lead to a partnership with Lifesavers candy.

The work is a submission for an advertising class.

I Love Him

Short Film: Relationship Abuse
Spring 2018
Warning: work includes references to sexual abuse

The story follows a college girl getting into a new relationship and sending video updates to her older sister back at home. As the new romantic relationship develops, it takes a turn for the worse.

This short film is one of the submissions for the University of Florida's Campus MovieFest. Campus MovieFest is a one-week student film competition. After work, I filmed for three days and edited for two days with Final Cut Pro X. I filmed and starred in the movie due to the limited resources and short time frame.

White Teeth

Short Film: Race
Fall 2017
What does it mean to be white?
What does it mean to be white in America?
What is the privilege of being white?
And what happens when minorities believe in the racism and colorist that society re-enforces?

Watch and see.
It's disgusting. It's filthy. It's "better".
This short film is a submission for a videography art class and featured in an art gallery hosted by the Fine Arts College of the University of Florida.
Stay tuned for my next passion project.
